Ampera Tourism Run 2025: Celebrating Palembang’s 1342nd Anniversary with a Spectacular Race
The city of Palembang is gearing up for the Ampera Tourism Run (ATR), a vibrant event marking the 1342nd anniversary of this historic city. Drawing between 3,000 and 3,500 participants, the run promises to be one of the year’s most exciting sporting celebrations. Adding to the prestige, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya will join the 10K race, bringing even greater energy to the event.
Sulaiman Amin, Head of Palembang’s Tourism Department, shared ambitious goals tied to this event. He aims to boost the city’s tourism numbers, aligning with the target of welcoming 2.3 million visitors by 2025. The ATR offers two vibrant race categories—5K and 10K for men and women alike—with 2,000 runners expected in the 5K and 600 athletes competing in the 10K.
Impressively, 40% of participants hail from around 90 regencies and cities across Indonesia, highlighting this event’s national appeal. The ATR has now earned its place on the official national race calendar.
The route offers a stunning journey through Palembang’s iconic landmarks. Starting at the top of the Ampera Bridge, runners will pass heritage sites such as the Grand Mosque, the Ledeng Office (Palembang City Hall), and end at the majestic Benteng Kuto Besak Plaza. The race begins early, from 5:00 AM until completion on June 15th, giving runners a refreshing dawn experience.
To ensure smooth logistics, the organizers have coordinated with local transportation and traffic authorities. Key road closures and traffic management are in place, while parking is conveniently arranged on the Seberang Ulu and Ilir sides, making it easy for participants and spectators to join in the festivities.
