Banyuwangi Government Supports Post-Mortem for KMP Tuno Pratama Jaya Victims

Pemkab Banyuwangi is facilitating the post-mortem process for the victims of the KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya, with the procedures taking place at RSUD Blambangan. This regional hospital has been designated as the central hub for the post-mortem activities.

“Following coordination with the East Java Police, RSUD Blambangan will be the main center for the post-mortem. We have prepared all necessary facilities, including a designated area for the victims’ families,” said Banyuwangi Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani on Monday (July 7, 2025).

The hospital is equipped with a refrigerated container, storage facilities, coffins, and death certificates for the victims. The families will be accommodated in the Bhayangkara Building, located right in front of RSUD Blambangan.

Ipuk conducted an on-site inspection of the facilities over the weekend, ensuring that all supporting provisions were in place under the supervision of the East Java Police’s Biddokkes team. “We also have healthcare personnel on standby in case additional assistance is required,” Ipuk added.

In addition to overseeing the post-mortem process, the local government is providing a Trauma Healing Team for the victims’ families at the Bhayangkara Building. This team comprises 15 psychologists, including 7 from the Banyuwangi Police Department, 6 from the Social Affairs Office, and 2 from RSUD Blambangan. “We are also involving the BPBD and community health centers in the evacuation team,” Ipuk noted.

The post-mortem operations are being carried out by the Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team from the East Java Police. Dr. Tutik Purwanti, the post-mortem coordinator, confirmed that all necessary resources are ready at RSUD Blambangan. “We have around 30 personnel involved, including those from RS Bhayangkara Bondowoso, Lumajang, RSUD Dr. Soetomo, and Universitas Airlangga,” stated Dr. Tutik, a forensic medicolegal specialist.

Dr. Tutik explained that all items and bodies recovered from both the waters of Bali and Banyuwangi will be collected at RSUD Blambangan. “They will be sorted, synchronized, and reconciled. The DVI team comprises professionals from various disciplines, including Inafis,” Dr. Tutik concluded.
