Buleleng Police Monitors AI Content Targeting Law Enforcement

The emergence of artificial intelligence (AI)-based content that targets police institutions has caught the attention of the Buleleng Police Resort. Buleleng Police Chief, AKBP Ida Bagus Widwan Sutadi, questions whether this content represents constructive criticism or an organized cyber attack. “The AI-generated content that conveys distorted and negative narratives about the police is perceived as a voice of the community. It could be a form of criticism expressed through social media and limitless technology,” Widwan stated in a press release on Friday, June 27, 2025.

Widwan emphasized that the Buleleng Police remain vigilant regarding such AI-based content. The cyber team of the Buleleng Police is actively monitoring the spread of this type of content to identify the individuals and groups behind it. Their approach is not to silence dissent but to counter it with educational initiatives and positive information.

“We prefer to respond with positive activities, providing educational information such as national insights. Provocative content that incites hatred can divide our nation,” Widwan asserted. He acknowledged that there are still individuals within the police force who undermine public trust. However, he stressed that generalizing the entire institution is unwise, especially when it is exploited by those seeking to manipulate public opinion for their own interests. Social media has become a battleground for cyber teams to mobilize people en masse with arguments and narratives that serve their agendas.

“We recognize that some members of the public still do not fully trust the performance of the police. However, we will not give up. We continue to work wholeheartedly to ensure that the community feels the presence of the police in protecting, nurturing, and serving them,” Widwan emphasized.

In an effort to build public trust, the Buleleng Police are actively engaging in social activities to commemorate the 79th Bhayangkara Day. These initiatives are themed ‘Buleleng Police for the Community’ and include various social activities such as providing clean water, agricultural equipment, health outreach, wheelchair donations, and home renovations. This represents a synergy between the police and the community, delivering tangible benefits that support the daily lives of the people of Buleleng.
