UNESCO has provided a detailed explanation regarding the yellow card issued to the Toba Caldera Geopark. An independent international team of experts is scheduled to conduct an assessment of the Toba Caldera this July. It’s important to highlight that UNESCO does not participate in this assessment process, which is carried out every four years by the independent experts alone.
UNESCO also clarified that issuing a warning card is not taken lightly, especially compared to a red card, which signifies the revocation of the UGG status. On this matter, Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Tourism, Ni Luh Puspa, has also shared her perspective.
