Dozens of Mercedes G-Class Embark on a Grand Tour of Swarnadwipa

Mercedes Jip Indonesia (MJI) recently completed their annual long touring event, this time exploring the roads of Sumatra. Covering a distance of 959 kilometers, the journey spanned from Medan to Pekanbaru. Cokorda Putra Adnyana, the President of MJI, elaborated that while previous tours were held in Java and Bali, after successful trips in Sumbawa and Sulawesi, they proudly ventured into Sumatra this year. “Every tour has its unique story, and it always ends with joy. All participants were visibly happy as they journeyed through Sumatra,” shared Cok Nana.

This year’s theme, ‘Exploring Swarnadwipa’ (Exploring Sumatra), included several social contribution events along the route, particularly in Samosir, Bukittinggi, and Pekanbaru. The beloved Mercedes-Benz G-Class club, now celebrating 24 years, partnered with Pertamina, BNI 46, and other sponsors for this initiative. A total of 30 vehicles and 60 participants joined the tour, with their vehicles transported from Patimban Port in Subang, West Java, to Belawan Port in Medan on June 13, 2025.

On the first day, June 21, participants leisurely explored Medan, indulging in the local cuisine and soaking in the city’s vibrant atmosphere. The real adventure commenced on June 22, covering a 173-kilometer route from Medan to Tebing Tinggi, then on to Parapat. After relishing the sights and attractions in Parapat, the journey continued to Samosir for a social outreach event where they donated 1,000 Arabica coffee seedlings in Maduma Village, Samosir district. The fun didn’t stop there—participants also engaged in off-road adventures, visited Sibeabea, and toured Ulos Village.

Amir Ucok, the Touring Coordinator for MJI, noted that the tour went without major hiccups. “It was a delightful and exhilarating experience, especially with the challenging routes we traversed. We hope next year’s long tour will lead us to a new region,” he remarked.

From Samosir, the exploration continued to Panyabungan in Mandailing Natal before heading to Bukittinggi. Over two days in Bukittinggi, participants repeated their social contribution efforts and visited historical sites, including Rumah Gadang, Ngarai Sianok, and various scenic viewpoints.

Alfinoza, a representative from Pertamina Patra Niaga and a participant, expressed that their support for MJI stems from the understanding that expedition vehicles often travel to remote areas where gas stoves are essential for cooking. Bright gas Can is the ideal solution for these adventurers, offering quality and safety.

On the ninth day, the MJI Jelajah Sumatera concluded its tour in Pekanbaru. Rifie, an automotive enthusiast attending with his wife, shared how this tour provided a unique opportunity to explore Sumatra, something he might not have accomplished alone, especially with his beloved vehicle. Before heading back to Jakarta, all participants made a special visit to Roesmin Nurjadin Air Base in Pekanbaru for a meet-and-greet, social outreach, and photo sessions alongside fighter jets like the F16 and Hawk 200.

Evi, a participant from East Java exploring with her family, reflected on the profound experience, emphasizing how the tour offered a sense of adventure, freedom, togetherness, and opened their eyes to the rich culture, traditions, and natural beauty of the places visited, rivaling even international destinations.
