Satres Narkoba Polres Kubu Raya has uncovered a significant drug trafficking case. Authorities seized three packages containing 119.9 grams of methamphetamine and 21 ecstasy pills from the suspect, JU (31), who was apprehended in a rather surprising location—his underwear. According to AKP Sagi, the head of the narcotics division, JU, a resident of East Pontianak, was arrested on July 15, 2025, on Jalan Mayor Alianyang, near a convenience store.
“During the search, we discovered the narcotics hidden in the suspect’s underwear. There were three discreet packages,” Sagi reported on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.
The investigation began with a tip-off regarding a narcotics shipment from Pontianak destined for Ketapang, potentially using a travel car or taxi. “Our team conducted a series of investigations, and after identifying the suspect’s vehicle, we stopped the travel car he was in and carried out a search. The drugs were found right in his underwear,” Sagi revealed.
Initial examinations indicated that these narcotics were intended for Ketapang, under the instructions of an individual identified only as S. Law enforcement is currently pursuing S’s whereabouts.
“JU’s role was solely as a courier. He was promised five million rupiah for delivering the drugs to Ketapang. However, since he was apprehended before reaching the destination, he ended up with nothing,” Sagi added.
JU is now detained at Polres Kubu Raya and faces charges under Article 114 paragraph (2) and Article 112 paragraph (2) of the Indonesian Narcotics Law No. 35 of 2009, which carries severe penalties including the death penalty, life imprisonment, or a minimum of 6 to a maximum of 20 years of imprisonment.
