Exciting Developments for the MotoGP Mandalika Race
The much-anticipated MotoGP Mandalika event is set to take place from October 3rd to 5th. Attendees will enjoy a range of transportation options to reach Mandalika, with the local government planning to increase special shuttle services for the occasion.
According to reports, almost all major Indonesian airlines, including Garuda, Lion Air, Batik Air, Wings Air, Super Air Jet, Citilink, Pelita Air, AirAsia, and Scoot, operate flights to Lombok International Airport from various destinations.
Director of Operations at InJourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), Troy Reza Warokka, mentioned during his visit to detikcom that there are exciting new transport options in place. “Yesterday, we received information from the Governor (Lalu Muhammad Iqbal of NTB) about the introduction of island seaplanes and speedboats from Bali. The Governor initiated this, so I believe accommodation will not be an issue,” he explained.
Troy noted that airlines typically add extra flights during this period. “For instance, there was a late-night flight from Lombok to Jakarta recently, carrying a VIP group,” he added.
On the accommodation front, preparations for MotoGP Mandalika are advancing well. Troy highlighted the significant growth in new hotels and resorts due to the recurring events attracting investors. “Last year, the Ministry of Tourism initiated guest houses and homestays, and the number has now expanded. We’ve encouraged investments widely, leading to many hotels, resorts, bungalows, and villas being developed. It’s impressive to see how much has grown along even the smaller roads—each resort is beautifully designed and well-equipped,” he shared, expressing surprise at the rapid development in the area.
