InJourney Calls on Airlines to Open New Routes for 30 International Airports

Indonesia has recently expanded its network of international airports, with a total of 40 designated as international by the Ministry of Transportation in their Decision No. KM 37 of 2025. Among these, 36 are airports serving the public. PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia, through its subsidiary InJourney Airports, has welcomed this development wholeheartedly. Currently, InJourney manages and operates 30 of these international gateways, enabling most of their airports to facilitate scheduled international commercial flights.

CEO of InJourney Airports, Mohammad R. Pahlevi, emphasizes that this move solidifies the strategic role of their airports within both regional and global aviation ecosystems. “Designating 30 of our airports as international is a step towards enhancing air connectivity and transforming these gateways into drivers of development and value creation, fostering more equitable international flight services across Indonesia,” he stated on Sunday, August 24, 2025.

Pahlevi is optimistic that these policy changes will boost passenger traffic and international flight operations to and from Indonesia. Meanwhile, Operations Director Agus Haryadi highlighted that the company is actively working on meeting the necessary infrastructure and documentation requirements. He also called upon airlines to explore and establish international routes through InJourney-managed airports.

“Airlines play a vital role in expanding international routes to these airports. We invite carriers to explore new opportunities and bring more international destinations to our gateways,” Agus added.

In 2024, InJourney Airports handled approximately 38 million international passenger movements and 224,000 international flight operations, marking significant growth compared to the previous year — a 22% increase in passenger traffic and a 14% rise in flight movements. From January to July 2025 alone, the airports recorded 23.3 million international passengers and 138,000 international flights, reflecting 10% and 9% growth respectively from the same period in 2024.
