Polres Klungkung is facing a pretrial lawsuit concerning allegations of wrongful arrest and torture involving I Wayan Suparta, 48. The petition was filed by the legal team from the Bali Legal Aid Institute, Rhadite Ignatius and Dewa Putu Adnyana, at the Semarapura District Court. The preliminary hearing took place on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. The case, registered under number 4/Pid.Pra/2025/PN Srp, was logged with the court on July 14, 2025. During the session, presided over by Judge Agewina, Polres Klungkung was represented by legal counsel from their Legal Affairs Division.
In court, Rhadite and Adnyana presented objections to the actions of arrest, detention, seizure, and confiscation that occurred from May 26 to 28, 2024, asserting that these actions were arbitrary and conducted by members of Polres Klungkung.
“The petitioner was arrested without a warrant. This was also deemed unlawful as it occurred during the investigation stage, despite there being no evidence of a crime in progress. The minutes of the proceedings were not shared with the petitioner or his family,” stated Rhadite. He further noted the absence of any questioning prior to the arrest and pointed out that the police did not provide initial evidence for the arrest, nor did they present any search or seizure documents.
