Local Residents to Reap Benefits from Mandalika Development by ITDC

InJourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) is committed to actively engaging the local community in the development of the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (KEK). This promise came in the wake of the recent removal of stalls at Tanjung Aan Beach in Sengkol Village, Pujut District, Central Lombok, NTB, which began on July 15, 2025.

Troy Reza Warokka, the Operations Director at ITDC, highlighted that the organization is implementing a systematic management strategy for the KEK Mandalika area. He emphasized the importance of empowering the local community to take on an active role in the development process, rather than being mere passive beneficiaries. “Initiatives like InJourney Hospitality House and collaborative training programs with Poltekpar Lombok through Edukarsa aim to enhance the capacities of local human resources in hospitality, tourism services, and entrepreneurship,” Troy stated in his official remarks on July 19, 2025.

In terms of alternative economic avenues, ITDC, in partnership with Mataram University (Unram), has established an integrated farming system. This approach is designed to not only bolster local food security but also to create new income diversification opportunities for communities in surrounding villages. “For children’s education, the Mandalika Child Learning Center serves as a platform for literacy and character development, strengthening the social foundation of the region intergenerationally,” Troy added.

Moreover, ITDC is also facilitating legal business spaces within the Amenity Core and involving the community in international events. Troy asserted that these initiatives are part of a broader policy aimed at fostering inclusive and sustainable local economic governance. “ITDC is not just focused on physical development but is also dedicated to building the local social and economic structure through a participatory empowerment framework,” he concluded.
