Hotel around Lake Toba are experiencing a surge in demand as the school holiday season kicks off, with most establishments already fully booked through the weekend. According to observations from online booking platforms on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, several hotels have completely sold out for the upcoming weekend. Notable mentions include Mikie Resort, Samosir Cottages, Khas Parapat Hotel, Sere Nauli Hotel, and Atsari Hotel, all of which have no available rooms left.
“Hotels are fully booked everywhere, and I’m at a loss for where to take my kids for a vacation. There are rooms available, but the prices have skyrocketed nearly threefold,” shared Dinda, a resident of Medan.
Meanwhile, some hotels that still have availability are significantly increasing their rates. For instance, Labersa Hotel is charging starting from IDR 3.5 million per night on Friday, June 27, 2025, compared to its usual rate of around IDR 1 million per night. Similarly, Marianna Resort has set its prices at a starting rate of IDR 4.4 million per night on the same date, whereas it typically offers rooms starting at IDR 1.7 million.
