Indo Defence 2024: Showcasing Indonesia’s Cutting-Edge Defense Technology
The Indonesian Ministry of Defense recently hosted the Indo Defence 2024 Expo and Forum at JIExpo Kemayoran, Central Jakarta. Among the impressive displays, the Army (TNI AD) presented its latest military equipment, featuring an advanced anti-drone system.
Brigadier General Wahyu Yudhayana, Head of the Army Information Service, shared insights about this innovative anti-drone technology developed by the Air Defense Artillery center. He emphasized that this equipment is designed to neutralize hostile drones effectively.
“In essence, this anti-drone system is the brainchild of our Air Defense Artillery armaments center, built to detect, disable, and even destroy enemy drones swiftly,” Wahyu explained during his briefing at the expo.
The system excels at rapidly identifying drone threats, offering a robust shield for critical national infrastructures. “Our primary mission is protecting key strategic assets across Indonesia, and this device significantly enhances our ability to counter aerial threats,” Wahyu added. “Its introduction marks a leap forward in drone attack prevention, boosting overall defense readiness.”
Beyond the anti-drone tools, the Army exhibited a variety of sophisticated defense gear. Highlights included the Rifle Perimeter Management System, capable of pinpointing enemy fire direction along with geographic coordinates in operational zones; bulletproof body armor vests; and an advanced alometric simulation app for training purposes.
Additionally, the Integrated Personal Protection (IPP) Set supports personnel operating in mountainous and forested terrains, optimizing their performance in tough conditions. The exhibition also featured a translation system integrated with German-made Leopard main battle tanks to aid tank operators.
Another standout innovation is the drone-based reconnaissance system developed by the Field Artillery center. This aerial scout provides vital data such as distance, elevation, and terrain information directly to artillery teams, enhancing targeting accuracy.
Waterway maintenance technology was also on display, including equipment designed to clear aquatic weeds like water hyacinth, proven effective in Lake Toba (North Sumatra) and Lake Ton Dano (North Sulawesi).
“We also have hydrant pumps under our ‘TNI AD Manunggal Air’ program, which ensures clean water access in remote or underserved regions,” Wahyu noted.
Beyond the exhibition, the forum includes bilateral discussions between the Army Chief of Staff and military leaders from allied nations, fostering international collaboration and strategic partnerships.
The event not only highlights Indonesia’s growing defense capabilities but also reinforces its commitment to regional security through innovation and cooperation.
