Unlocking the Future: Sneak Peek of InaRI 2025 at Indonesia Internet Expo and Summit

The Indonesia Research and Innovation Expo (InaRI Expo) and the Indonesia Internet Expo and Summit 2025 (IIXS) are set to take place at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, from September 2 to 4, 2025. This year’s exhibition and conference will carry the theme “Unlocking Innovation, Empowering the Future with AI,” highlighting how artificial intelligence (AI) accelerates the application of research and innovation across various strategic national sectors.

IIXS 2025 will feature exhibitions focusing on innovations in internet infrastructure, connectivity, 5G networks, satellite technology, telecommunications, cloud solutions, data centers, AI, broadcasting, IoT, cybersecurity, digital solutions, and advancements in corporate communication technology.

The InaRI Expo x IIXS 2025 is the result of a collaboration between the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), the Indonesian Internet Service Provider Association (APJII), and PT INTI Indonesia Makmur. Laksana Tri Handoko, head of BRIN, emphasized that this partnership aims to engage industry players in research initiatives. According to BRIN’s findings, the latest AI and information technologies can and should be utilized in various aspects of life, from healthcare to food security.

“AI is a tool, not an end goal. Our aim remains to achieve healthcare independence, to provide better, more affordable, high-quality, and efficient healthcare services. AI and connectivity are essential tools that should be leveraged to support this vision,” he stated at the BJ Habibie Building, BRIN, Jakarta, on July 8, 2025.

One of the highlights will be research and innovations in oil and gas energy as well as renewable energy, including carbon stabilization and storage solutions. “We are integrating AI, such as using microalgae,” he mentioned. Handoko also discussed how AI innovation can enhance toll road monitoring and the management of rest areas, as well as smart farming and fertilization processes.

He expresses hope that the InaRI x IIXS 2025 event will raise industry awareness to invest more in research and development (R&D) within their respective sectors. “We want every industry player to develop their own R&D; after all, they cannot enhance their products without a solid foundation and differentiation,” he noted.

“For those who lack this capability, partnership opportunities with us will help them appear as if they have their own R&D. Gradually, they will recognize the benefits and begin to invest naturally,” he continued.

In line with this vision, Zulfadly Syam, Secretary General of the APJII, highlighted that research outcomes addressing community needs can be effectively met with the help of internet connectivity and innovation based on research. “When we venture into rural areas, we find numerous problems that can actually be resolved through connectivity and innovation,” he remarked.

He illustrated how an internet-connected turbine can help shrimp farmers avoid crop failures. Additionally, issues related to egg and milk production due to livestock stress can be identified and addressed through internet-enabled facial recognition technology.

“The right application of innovation is essential for sectors like oil and gas, tourism, health, finance, and banking. We have numerous innovations that can be linked to the internet,” he highlighted.

He believes that this digital application strategy can also help the 1,328 internet service providers in Indonesia escape the fierce price competition by focusing on digital innovation. “As a result, our ISP partners will engage in research that goes beyond merely providing cheap internet,” Zulfadly added.

“That’s why we value this collaboration with BRIN so much; it provides a platform for industry players to connect with researchers and innovators. Together, we can create even greater benefits for society,” he concluded.
